The Rise of Maquina

April 14, 2009

The time has finally come.  Maquina Studio is officially launched.   I’ve been working like a geek on speed for most of March and April, madly coding away in my cozy little studio to make this thing happen.  Most of my friends probably think I’m lost in some dense subtropical jungle in South America since I’ve been disconnected from the world for a while. (To them: I’m back guys! Mission accomplished!) As with all noble feats, obstacles abound.  A couple of freelance projects attempted to derail the launch of this site.  Add to this the global recession, and we have a major speed bump. But to some, this is the perfect environment to start a business. So I say  there’s no better time to launch this web joint.  This may sound crazy, but it may just be the voice of my inner entrepreneur going delirious. Whatever it is there’s enthusiasm and novelty in the air, and spring is finally here.  Anyways, I think there’s no better time than now to start fresh.

Maquina, for the non-Spanish speaker, means machine.  How does it apply to this web business? Well,  I can act like Don Draper from MadMen and conjure sophisticated visions about this concept but I choose to skip the show. In the end it can mean whatever you want it to mean.  Plus I like the sound of it. Doesn’t it just click and make you tingle all over?  For now the only aspiration is to have this web shop running like a well oiled machine.  And let’s leave it at that.

As for opening credits I have  to thank my many friends and colleagues who helped along the way with their valuable input.  And I can’t forget the guys from Automattic who developed Wordpress, the excellent blogging platform this baby is riding on.  Many thanks to all the parties involved.  In all truth I’m pretty pleased with the final design of the site, from it’s branding and colors, to it’s code structure.  What do you think?

Congrats!!, Maquina rocks! I want to see the whole Don Draper act though, now that you are out of the jungle :) You said it yourself Cris, mission accomplished.

“Rise up!” Hey Cristian, Your site looks great, I love the deep rich color combo with the pop color graphic elements. It’s very modern/elegant and the navigation is great too. I can’t wait to get our collective up and running.
